I know its been awhile, but I've been doing stuff for work or making designs for my canvas print business. All of which I should post examples of... maybe just in my scraps for the peeps who watch my stuff

Anyway, another vexel jobbie for fun. Traced over an original photo, so I'm cheating in a sense. But after doing that hair I think I'm allowed to be let off, lol.
Real art, maybe next year if I have the time...

I'm not too keen on the hyper realistic vexels peeps are doing at the moment. Don't get me wrong, the amount of levels of colour of ridges people are using are mind boggling and show some real technical skill and a skip full of patience. But the images are becoming to close to being realistic and being indistinguishable from the original photo. I guess thats what people are intending...
Why be that realistic when you can use just use the photo and say its your own... lol.
Have fun with the image I say.

Built up layers of coloured shapes using the Polygonal Lasso as I like the jaggered edge I get appose to the smoothness of the pen tool. (bit hard to see at this reduced size)
Also used brushes and fades over most layers.

Actual print size - 36 x 24 inches (91.4 x 61 cm)

Programs used: PhotoShop CS2
Main Tools used: Polygonal Lasso, various Layer Styles, Fill, Paint brush and the Rubber (Eraser)
